Bacon and Egg Pie
Ham and Egg Pie


Ingredients....

200g 8oz plain/self raising flour
pinch of salt
50g 2oz of lard
50g 2oz of margerine
cold water to mix about 30ml 2tbsp

mix flour in basin rub in fat
using knife to cut and stir, mix with cold water to form a stiff paste

turn dough on to a floured board or worktop and roll out

in warm weather chill pastry before use

200g 8oz streaky bacon
or ham
3 eggs
salt and pepper
pinch of herbs (optional)

divide pastry in two roll out and line 20.5cm or 8inch oven proof dish
plate or foil baking dish
remove rinds and cut bacon into small pieces
or slice or dice ham into suitable sized pieces
beat eggs lightly add bacon seasoning and herbs if used
pour mixture on to pastry damp the edges and cover with second round pastry seal edges
make a hole in the centre and brush with beaten egg or milk
bake in moderate hot over 190c 373f gas mark 5 for about 35 40 minutes
serve hot or cold
